First Member Contribution

Wow! First day live and first member contribution! We are off to a great start!

A very special thank you to Tiffani Steele for sending in this amazing Excel spreadsheet that makes budgeting so very easy!

What I really love about this particular budgeting tool is that is designed to be used by real people because it takes into account the very real possibility of an emergency and the very real need to be a smart saver. Plus, it's so user-friendly, even a computer novice will be able to use it.

The first page is a calculator. Input your income and the program auto calculates how much you should put in savings as well as how much discretionary income you have after bills.

List all of your bills and their amounts on the second page. The program automatically puts the total in the correct section on page one.

The third page is for you to determine your emergency fund – how much you need to have put away in case of a crisis.

I am not able to attach the file to this blog; however, I will email it to anyone who asks - and I encourage everyone to check this out! It will certainly help you save time and money!

I was able to plan our budget in less than two minutes! Now, that's fast!

Welcome to Music City Savvy Savers

...a virtual think tank for time and money saving ideas!

This blog site is for:

Idea sharing – where anyone can post money or time saving tips.

Bartering – to draw from the talents of the group for our mutual benefit – also included will be an opportunity to advertise paid services performed by group members.

Bulk purchasing – to list items for the purpose of making group purchases in order to receive the bulk price.

Crafting – where handmade crafts ideas can be posted, invitations to craft together can be made, and the best prices on crafting supplies can be shared.

So, without further ado, I give you my first money saving tips
!

 NashvilleGasPrices.com

is a free website where you can type in a zip code and find the best prices for fuel in the area. However, it doesn't stop there. Also on the site (http://www.nashvillegasprices.com/) you can find these other great features:

Trip cost calculator - This shows you the cheapest gas for each fill-up from point A to point B.

Weekly gas card giveaway - They are giving away a $250.00 gas card every week!

Fuel Saving tips - Some of these tips were new to me.

Gas price charts and maps - Just interesting information. You can check prices for any area in the US going back to 2002.

Kroger.com

not only has the weekly ad for your local Kroger, but you can load manufacture's coupons to you Kroger Plus Card for additional savings.

In less than five minutes, I added $27.20 of coupons onto my Plus Card. These are coupons I will not forget to clip or leave at home because my plus card is on my key ring. In just a few months I have redeemed $74.10 in digital coupons

Making a grocery list is so quick and easy at Kroger.com. I just pull up the weekly ad, click on the items I want, and then add any additional items to the list at the end. By having another open window on my computer, I can check my active coupons against the weekly sales. This way, I receive additional savings.

When it is all said and done, I can either email my list to myself and access it on my phone while I'm shopping, or I can print it. Making a paperless grocery list with paperless coupons is a fast and green way to prep for the weekly shopping trip.

Crafting Idea - Rose Petal Soap

The winter holidays are upon us. It is time for gift giving and merriment. This year, instead of fighting traffic or running store to store to find that perfect gift, why not make these beautiful and useful soaps with a friend or two? After all, any reason to have a couple of friends over for a little wine, cheese, crafting and conversation is a good one!

Also, you will not believe how quick, easy and inexpensive these  soaps are to make. And, you don't need a crafty bone in your body to be able to make them!

Ingredients and Supplies

Silk roses (I get mine at the dollar store)
Glycerin soap (found at most craft stores)
Rose oil (found at most craft stores)
Aluminum foil
Tweezers
Scissors
Microwave safe bowl

Directions

Cut the petals off the roses
Place a sheet of foil on the table
Melt soap and add rose oil according to package directions
With tweezers, dip silk petal into melted, scented soap until coated
Remove petal and shake off excess soap
Place petal on foil to cool and dry

THAT'S IT...it's that easy!

You can put the petals in a jelly jar or other container. I have found some very pretty containers at different dollar stores. The soaps can be floated in a tub or placed in a room or closet to add a lovely scent.

More to Come...
